During the first semester of this year, three studies on energy audits have been carried out using not only information from reports, but also the main results of a questionnaire answered by companies and experts in the field.
Companies from Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic participate in this project, which according to European regulations (Energy Efficiency Directive) have the obligation to carry out an energy audit (large companies according to its article 8)
The main result of the energy audit is the identification of possible improvements that lead to energy savings and therefore economic ones with a previous investment.
Some countries such as Germany, Italy and the Netherlands have established obligations to implement these audit improvements for very energy-intensive companies with different selection criteria. Currently in Germany, control and enforcement are limited and the obligation is only temporary.
In Spain, the Czech Republic, Greece and Italy, the largest consumption comes from the non-metallic mineral industry. Other industries with large consumption in these countries are metal production, the food sector, the paper industry, and oil refineries and coking plants.
